Now, don’t get us wrong, the UK has plenty to offer paddle boarders – from the stunning coastline and calm waters of Cornwall, to the rugged landscape and abundant wildlife of the Scottish lochs, you’re spoilt for choice.

But there’s nothing like taking your board abroad (that’s a bit of a mouthful) and dipping it into more exotic waters. In our book, it’s the best way to explore a new country, there’s only one drawback: you might start to look at the humble UK coastline a little differently on your return…

If you’re feeling confident on your board and you want to go international with your hobby, here are five destinations that will blow your socks off:

1. Hawaii, USA

Hawaii is undoubtedly one of the best destinations for paddleboarding in the world. With its warm waters, incredible marine life and stunning beaches, it's an idyllic location for anyone who loves being out on the water. There are plenty of different spots to choose from on the islands of Hawaii, whether you want to explore the rugged coastline of Kauai or take a relaxing paddle on the calm waters of Maui. Plus, the local culture and laid-back vibe of Hawaii make it a perfect place to unwind and enjoy the scenery… ideally with a pina colada in hand!

2. Bali, Indonesia

Bali is a popular destination for the Instagram crew, with its beautiful beaches being super Instagrammable… but don’t let that put you off. It's also an excellent spot for paddleboarding. With its clear blue waters and abundant marine life, Bali is a perfect location for exploring the coast and getting some exercise while you’re at it. You can paddle around the island's many coves and bays or head out to some of the smaller islands for a more secluded experience.

3. Lake Tahoe, USA

Located in the Sierra Nevada Mountain range, Lake Tahoe is a beautiful freshwater lake that's perfect for a spot of paddleboarding. The stunning mountain scenery is the ideal backdrop for anyone who loves to be out on the water. There are plenty of guided tours available in the area, making it easy to get started even if you’re a bit apprehensive about heading out solo.

4. Bora Bora, French Polynesia

Bora Bora is an iconic destination that's famous for its clear blue waters, stunning coral reefs and overwater bungalows. It's also an excellent destination for paddleboarding, with its calm lagoon waters making it easy to spot the marine life. You can either paddle around the lagoon and explore the coral gardens, or head out to some of the nearby islands for a more adventurous experience.

5. Amalfi Coast, Italy

The Amalfi Coast is a stunning stretch of coastline located in the Campania region of southern Italy, between the cities of Sorrento and Salerno. It is famous for its dramatic cliffs, sparkling blue waters, charming fishing villages and delicious local cuisine. When you’re not consuming your bodyweight in pasta and seafood, paddleboarding along the coast is an excellent way to experience this beautiful area from a unique perspective. You can explore hidden coves and beaches that are inaccessible by land, or simply enjoy the stunning views of the coastline and the Mediterranean Sea.

With your inflatable SUP from Aquaplanet, you can make paddleboarding abroad a reality and not just another pipedream. Just don’t forget to pack the sunscreen!
